Disney Lorcana is a collectible trading card game released by Ravensburger North America using characters from Disney that were licensed. The game uses a format similar to Magic the Gathering and the Pokemon Trading Card Game, along with other trading card game mechanics. Lorcana cards featuring iconic Disney characters like Mickey Mouse, Moana, Maleficent, and Elsa were first revealed at the D23 Expo in 2022.
Lorcana cards are released in four sets per year with over 200 cards in each flight. The cards feature original art commissioned for the game and designers have said that Lorcana will feature more new art than any product in the history of the Disney corporation.

“The First Chapter” Is The First Lorcana Set
“The First Chapter” is the first grouping of Lorcana cards that will be available when the game officially launches in multiple countries on September 1, 2023 (and will be available before that for presale at Gen Con Indy 2023).
Cards in the First Chapter will be available for purchase in several ways.

The way most people will first experience The First Chapter is through the purchase of a Lorcana starter deck. First Chapter starter decks will be sold in three combinations featuring two of the six “inks” that are associated with all Lorcana cards (Amber and Amethyst; Emerald and Ruby; and Steel and Sapphire.) Each First Chapter starter deck includes 60 Lorcana cards, including 2 foil cards featuring the characters seen on the front of the package; 11 game tokens; a rulebook; and a booster pack containing 12 random Lorcana cards.

Players can expand their First Chapter collection by buying booster packs. A booster pack of First Chapter-themed cards will include 6 common cards, 3 uncommon cards, 2 rare/super rare/or legendary cards, and 1 foil card. Many will choose to purchase several booster packs at once, and a booster set of First Chapter booster cards will include 24 packs in one booster box.

Gift sets of Lorcana cards in the First Chapter release will feature sets highlighting the Disney characters Mulan in the Imperial Soldiers set and Hades in the King of Olympus set. Those gift sets will include 2 oversized foil cards, 2 playable foil cards, 34 game tokens, and 4 booster packs containing 12 cards each.

First Chapter cards will also come in the Illumineers Trove, which is a collectible box of cards themed to the in-game characters of Lorcana players called “Illumineers.” For The First Chapter, the trove will include 2 deck boxes, 8 booster packs with 12 cards each, 15 game tokens, and a player’s guide.
